Ok, here's the deal. House plans have just fallen through and as such, looking to console myself with a different motor.

So far, I have had a Fiesta Zetec S (05), Clio 197 F1 (57), Mountune Focus ST3 (08) and currently a Cooper S (09).

Now, with the varying reasons as to why I have chosen my cars as I have, some forced upon me, some not, I am looking for a change and have pretty much a blank canvass to play with.

Only stipulations are:

  • I have about £18k to spend
  • Would prefer it to be young ish (I'm not one for fettling under a bonnet - so needs to be easily maintained)
  • Has to be my day-to-day car (as I'm not flush enough to have 2 cars)
I've loved all of my cars in different ways, the Zetec S because it was my first, the Clio because it was so playful and had quite a look that made people come and talk to me about, the Focus because it was blisteringly quick (whilst managing to be rather lazy) and the Cooper S because of it's ability to have fun and still be remarkably frugal.

Now, the main issue I have with the Mini is that they are everywhere and it does look so very "cute"...and it's all a bit same old, same old. Now, I'm not a poser, but I do want something that I can be proud to talk about and not like everything else.

Currently pondering an Elise or a Clio V6 but am really open to suggestions...

So, I know it's rather vague, but any ideas?

The 350Z was one I've also looked at but the interior looks so dated - anything with a cassette player on a recent car is beyond me!

Some good suggestions - the BMW hadn't even hit my radar...

Keep em coming boys (and girls)

Or maybe a Boxster S? A good TVR Griff? An excellent 911 Carrera late 80's vintage?

ETA

Maybe not the 911. Um. Or the Griff, thinking about it. Having driven both, they are challenging, and this is with some experience of RWD cars. How about a Mountune Focus ST? David Vivian loved his long-termer in EVO mag? And as quick as a Focus RS.

Kiteless, I've had one...had to give is up as the girlf was living in York at the time and a 250 mile round trip every other weekend was eating into my wallet like you wouldn't believe (I wouldn't have minded if it was a fun journey but it was M1/A1 all the way!)

Hmmm...!!
