Guys - Need some advice:

After a nice weekend, enjoying the weather and driving around with the top off, I set off from a friend's place to drive back home. A couple of minutes after starting the car, the engine just cut out. Pulled on the side, tried to restart the car, but I was getting weird sounds from the fuel pump - it just would not prime properly..

Fiddled with the switch in the boot, tried the immobiliser fob, locked and unlocked the car, and after a few tries and a couple of minutes, it started again. However, idle revs were at 500-600, significantly lower than the 800-900 that is set to run and I was getting the EFI FAULT warning.

While I drove back home, I kept getting the EFI FAULT warning at regular intervals during the 30 min drive. The idle revs went up to 700 after a while. Engine did not cut out again. At times, there was also a slightly different than usual smell in the car, but cannot tell what it was...

I went through previous posts, and EFI warnings are normally associated with wet weather (and after washing the car...) but last time the car has been close to water was 3 weeks ago when last washed.

Any ideas what this might be? Has anyone had it??
Unfortunately, I dont have the diagnostics cable (nor the knowledge..) to check myself..
