Hello all,

I am purchasing a car which is currently owned by a disabled person, and thus currently has a disabled registered tax disc.

When I buy the car, and transfer the V5 details into my name, what happens to the tax disc? Do I just use it as normal until the tax runs out? Or is there something else which I need to do?

I can't seem to find any info about this on the net!

Cheers

You will need to take the v5 to a local licensing office (not post office) and change the taxation class of the vehicle back to plg.

Don't keep the disc on the car as your not entitled to free road tax and will in effect be driving with no tax.

You will need to pay a visit to your local DVLA office to change the taxation class and buy a replacement tax disc (PLG).

If in doubt, give them a call ( DVLA).
