Magnetic sign removal

Friend of mine was daft enough to put a magnetic "England" sticker on the bonnet of his Focus earlier this month. With yesterday's performance he quite rightly wants to remove it.
The problem is that the sign seems to have heat-welded itself to the paintwork and even lifting a corner of the sticker has pulled away some of the paint. So any suggestions - hair drier ? or what...

if it was not intended as a permanent sign, i'd contact the manufacturer or whoever sold it to him and ask them. if it peels off the paint, demand some compensation for a respray.The problem is that the sign seems to have heat-welded itself to the paintwork and even lifting a corner of the sticker has pulled away some of the paint.
