Word is that if you overpay a speeding fine by say £1, The system will send you a refund (£1), which you do not cash, this aparently, prevents the system from generating the next part of the process which asks for your licence (for the addition of points). Supposedly this works in the US. Does anyone actually know if it works here in the UK? or is it one of those urban myths?

IIRC it is a myth, but I'd like to hear from someone in the UK who has tried it.

That is a US site though - has anyone actual evidence of what happens if you overpay a fine here - do they send it back and ask for the right amount, or just cash it?

Myth, tried this at uni once with a parking fine. They sent the cheque back.

What would have been the benefit of overpaying your parking fine?

With the speeding fine myth the overpayment prevents you getting any points.

It's a US site but the email is twelve years years old, started in Australia and has been round Canada too - I haven't actually tried it my self so who knows, maybe by some strange coincidence it actually works in the UK.

It is a myth, but if you've been caught try www.pepipoo.com
Thankfully the forum/website have helped avoid 9 points and therefore kept a clean liscence
