I was watching this crazy video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3uvBuIC3A4&fea... - where the car claims to be a diesel... but looking at the quoted speeds (up to 155 MPH...) I literally can't think of a diesel that quick...

Quickest one i've found so far is the 335d, 280 BHP, 580 NM, 0-60 in 5.7... but the car in the video still seems quicker...

You can't think of a diesel that does upto 155mph, yet the first one you name can? Erm, ok.

If you delimted a Q7 V12 Diesel I would suspect it would be quick, or the 7 series anmd S class with big diesel engines that are not sold over here

I'm sure that without the limiter the 335d will get well over 155, but as quick as in the video?

Apparently the Q7 with 493 BHP / 1000 NM does 0-60 in 5.3 seconds... but I doubt its agile enough to do any of that...

EDIT - Someone already suggested the Q7

look a bit harder. Basically most german saloons with a 3.0tdi can generally reach the 150mph mark, with the best of the crop being limited at 155!!

...but again, would they accelerate as quick as in the video? I have my doubts.

The quickest production diesel is a mapped BMW 535D.

About 200 threads on this subject in PH history so it must be true biggrin Apparently they can blow Porsche Turbo's away biggrin

Depends if it's tweaked or not. People have got 200whp out of the 1.9 VAG diesel engines, and I've seen 330d's with more than 300bhp. That should be good for E46 M3-matching acceleration. There was a guy who ran one on the Gumball 4 or 5 years ago.

Haven't watched the vid, but is it truly a stock car? A remap or chip tune can make a huge difference to most modern ECU controlled turbo diesels. 20-40% hp gain is possible with most.

You are looking at 0-60 times, the car in the video is being driven by a total bell end in its mid range where a diesels torque makes it quick. As said most 3.0 TDIs are that quick.

Not standard he hasn't. Not even remapped I wouldn't imagine.

We have an Alfa GT with the same engine, and I'd be lucky to see 140 on the speedometer.

I once had an A8 4.2 diesel thing about 5 years ago right on my tail in my Cerbera.

Not even in a remapped 3.0 TDI?
