The way to go for stainless upgrade? Look OE to original TVR and they offer a performance version for £395? Seems cheap compared to ACT. I'm craving the sound back since the SP6 I just sold won loudest car at ROAR yesterday!

Anyone else got one?

Have one on mine. Not actually that loud really with the linked decats. Was a bit louder with un-linked.

A friends 4.2 with a Std backbox and decats is louder than mine.

i put a pair of rear boxes that came off a 4.5 on my speed six.
they're unlinked and de-catted. 115 db and sound the nuts

Are standard exhausts that much louder if you just decat the vehicle?

I have the sports exhaust from the factory and with the decats it a lot louder

Oh yeah I agree on that, but what about a bog standard mild steel exhaust if you decat it?

Oh yeah I agree on that, but what about a bog standard mild steel exhaust if you decat it?

Standard exhaust decatted will sound much the same at idle.

But when you open it up you get a much nicer rasp as the revs rise past 2.5K and a much nicer bang n pop as you lift off.

Standard exhaust decatted will sound much the same at idle.

But when you open it up you get a much nicer rasp as the revs rise past 2.5K and a much nicer bang n pop as you lift off.

Depends if you want to do track days. Standard back box with linked de-cat is around 102 dB - my sports exhaust with the same de-cat was 128 dB which makes most track days or motorsport a no-no.

Ooh no I would suggest you do decat now! Best cheap mod you can do. You may decide that you re-cat when you go stainless as the noise can be overbearing (but all depends on the exhaust).
