Chaps, I want to shift my Celica for however much in about a months/ 6 weeks time. I require a car that will have the following attributes (if possible).

Less than £1000
Good MPG
Must be cheap on insurance
4/5 door (Or even an estate, I wouldn't mind an estate tbh)
Reliable for roughly 2 years.

I plan on saving up for an MX5 as a second car later so don't really need this to be incredibly fast or with amazing handling. Just stable on motorways and reliable with a bit of space. I would prefer a Toyota if possible but for the price involved, I'm not going to complain in regards to other options.

Anyone?

All I can so far think of are the Honda Civic Aerodeck, Avensis Estate and Primera. Any others?

Skoda Fabia?

Bought my W reg for £1k
35mpg round town, gets to 48 on long motorway trips.
Insurance group 2
Only replaced the temp sensor since I bought it. Reliable car for what its worth.
Incredibly slow and no handling - But it's good enough?

I'd go for a Mondeo, cheap as chips, reliable and good to drive

Have to agree with this. Mondeo or focus will be nice and cheap, they're reliable as anything else and nice and cheap insurance for what you get

Thought I'd quickly bring this up again as a particular car has caught my eye.

Vauxhall Omega, in estate form. Which are the best engines (insurance and MPG wise) and also, are there any issues with reliability on these? Seems that many think they are unreliable. How efficient would this be as a workhorse?
