The old fellas X-Trail went in for a service today. They've told him the intercooler has gone.

Car has done 60,000 miles and is a 2005 model.

They've quoted 1,020 to replace it. Sounds expensive to me, but not having any knowledge specifically, thought I'd ask over here.

Can anyone confirm if this is about right, or a right rip-off?

Thanks!

Oh, and out of the total, the labour is 50 quid.

So, about 800 for the part, 50 labour plus VAT.

Thanks

You'd probably be better off measuring it and finding an aftermarket replacement for a fraction of the cost.

Had mine done under warranty - extremely common failure and usually kills the turbo too so the mech told me. Worth getting the tubby checked out as well. I'd get it done at an indy if I were you, it's a very easy job to do.
