I drive a scooby day-to-day, and share a TVR Chimaera 50/50 with my old man.

Trouble is, the TVR bug has bitten both of us HARD! Like, teeth clenched, pitbull, 'even a finger up the pooper won't make it let go' hard! (Man that's hard, you'd be thinking - and you would be right!).

Problem is, only one TVR! frown

So what's a lad to do?

Both of us are counting the seconds until we can jump in the beast and give it a damn good spanking...

Driving the scoob seems like a non-event now... But surely it would be madness to just buy two TVR's?!!

Now, I love the Chimaera... absolutely, head over heels, want to lick it - LOVE IT! But is there any point having two of the same car between us?

If anything I would want a slightly rawer car, don't mind a bit more noise, few more flames etc. Love taking the roof off, so that would be a must. Budget is whatever it needs to be within these parameters - up to £3k if I don't sell any cars, Up to £6k if I flog the MGB GT (This car is definitely for sale anyway) and up to about £9-10k if I sell the Subaru as well, although that would mean it would have to be absolutely reliable.

Oh, if anyone is wondering what became of the last 'what car' thread... I ditched the bird laugh

Been having a little nosey at some Maserati 3200's - bloke next door has a 4.2 with a Tubi and it's ears but they all seem to be coupes and tippy for under £10k.

Serious dilemma here boys (and girls) tongue out

Could you afford a Tuscan plus upkeep? They don't sell for much more (in relative terms) than Chimaeras. If not, the S Series TVR are rarer and rawer than the Chimaera and allot of fun. And they sell very cheaply for what they are, you could even keep your Subaru for everyday stuff. Plus they sound unbelievable (see link)

Yep, lovely... Job done. However... Aren't those engines notorious? Understand you can get the engines sorted but at a big ££cost frown

Or did they do a V8 one?

Never driven one... not sure what to expect from one to be honest. Not sure I'd feel that safe... Riding bikes scares the st out of me because all the potentially terrible things just cycle through my head the whole time, yet at the same time I want to twist the throttle a bit more...

Kind of think the same would hold true in a little caterham.

nothing from Honda or Toyota etc will be visceral enough. You probably want a Westfield SEight.

or possibly a heavily boosted MX-5.

A TVR is that much different?
Come on.
Gonna be an engine in your lap, in either.
Just go try, that's how you find out, be open minded.
Some suggest the beauty of those things is that kicks can be had at less, shall we say, extreme speeds.

Okay okay, I will check them out. Promise.

But what do you do when it rains (they look to be top end of budget and hence my only car!) hehe

Speak to Cock Womble 7, he's the current experimenter.

You asked for thrills, I suggested one route.
Hood, yes, just use it when it looks like rain.
Me, my first car, back in 1968, was a 1966 MK11 Triumph Spitfire, bd hood thingy, so only used it when rain threatened.
Mind, those 1960s girls much preferred the top down.
Sterner stuff back then perhaps.

I would have to be AMAZED with one, and it would have to pip the Chim and the scooby combined to make me get one as a daily driver! hehe

Want a hood and some kind of 'substance' smile

Looks like a similar fleet to mine. My road Scoob hasn't been used in nearly 2 months. frown I'm beginning to think my fleet doesn't need it any more. Maybe I've got old or daft but I am starting to think that a Griffith, a Cerbera and a Range Rover would make a better fleet.
Nothing I've ever driven has been quite as much of an event as a TVR, so no you aren't mad wanting to have two at once, assuming I pass for sane. None of the above do it for me, possibly except the Supra as long as it's got turbos, isn't auto and has a little wink more power than standard.

Go look in the forum for these things, fair few use them as dailies.
Anyway, no harm in your wandering along to a dealer and trying?
Then you'll know.
Of course, in many ways, they could be considered a four wheeled motorcycle, so, you may not like.
