Oil pressure switch or gauge?

Hi

Whilst I was checking the wife's 280i over on Sunday, so its ready for BBWF. I noticed that when I turned the ign on the gauge went to full pressure. Running the engine the gauge still reads full.

Pressure switch I think?

Full scale defelction on a gauge is usually the wire has fallen off the sender (or the gauge)
Or maybe just a loose or dry connection.
Wiggle it about, if that does not work, pull the wire off the sender (get wife to watch gauge) then ground it.

If it it does turn out to be a faulty sender be very careful you get the correct one for your gauge. VDO/Smith etc.
