Paddington Basin / 1 Night London Moorings
Discussion
I'm planning a really special trip into town with the boyfriend, (dinner, clubbing, etc) and want to make it something that will stick in his head for a long time to come, hopefully forever. I live on a narrowboat near Heathrow, and while getting into the west end of London from here is a breeze, getting out of it and back home late at night, pissed as a newt, is a horrible, expensive excersise. Came up with the idea of doing it in a style he's never experienced before, and taking my "house" to Paddington (or surrounding areas), but haven't ventured further than Alperton on this particular stretch of canal (Regent's Arm, Grand Union).
So, any of you "done" Paddington Basin? Do I need to book, etc? Or can you recommend anywhere else for a night's mooring in central London, that is safe from outside vandalism etc (not worried about break-ins, I share my home with a Rottweiler)!Help appreciated, and any pub / club resteraunt tips. Cheers folks.

£8 for bookable overnight mooring just near Kings Cross - easy taxi ride from most places I'd have thought

Whilst at College back in the early 90's I had a friend with a narrowboat with it's moorings out at Northolt, nr. Heathrow.
We regularly 'sailed' it into Little Venice and with about 10 other friends used to booze cruise (responsibly of course) the canal during the summer evenings / nights sailing into Camden and back again.
We moored up at Little Venice often and for free.
The Sainsburys at Ladbroke Grove was a novelty!
