Hello,

Am about to try my Focus RS a few days on track for the first time and had a few questions. How well does the car cope with trackdriving? Any modifications needed such brakes, fluids, intercooler etc... I am thinking of having the 340hp upgrade done first.

Thanks!

I did a trackday at Bedford in a friends car on full gt circuit in February, very cold day, on track late cause of ice. The brakes started to noticeabley fade after 3 fast laps, even with those temps outside, let alone now. It is over 4 miles a lap though. All other t's and p's were fine.

Also made for an easy drive for the first hour until we noticed the steering was in comfort mode. Doh!

I certainly noticed brake fade, so this time i have Ferodo pads.

There would be no harm in upgrading the intercooler. Autospecialists do a good one....

Thanks for your tips, any other suggestions? Should make for a good car on track I have heard.

How do I change the steering from comfort to sport??

If it's the same as the normal Focus, scroll through the menu items using the controls on the indicator stalk. You can't do it when you're moving though!

If you've never touched it then it will be in standard, I've since driven my Mum's ST and in sport you do have to fight it, maybe that's just the condition of the roads. Have fun and report back as I'm trying to convince her it needs a trackday outing.

It's not bad at all. You have to be very smooth with your inputs, otherwise it can be a bit unruly, especially the rear end.

The only area I feel really need improvement is the brakes. I've since upgraded to Ferodo pads and fluid more suitable to sustained track driving, so that should be much better.

As for steering settings, i'm not a fan of Sport on the road, and tbh it didn't make any more sense on track either, though plenty of people swear by it.
