Greetings,

Apparently someone trespassed into my sister's garden yesterday, and opened up her chicken run letting the foxes in. The run was sealed on all sides and buried into the ground so only a human could open it. The neighbours are suspecting the local complete scrote who has done stuff like this before, but nothing will happen as there is no proof. Either way someone deliberately did that regardless of who it was. What can posess someone to do that? The neighbors are all pissed off because my sister was supplying them all with free eggs...

Sure it was the local scrote? Chickens can be VERY noisy and piss a lot of neighbours off.

we had a cockerel escape and die of a heart attack by either shagging or attempting to shag all the other birds. Not a bad way to go.

Was the door opened, or was it a hole in the fencing?
Foxes don't need to be let in.
The reason I ask, is because if the door was left open, the hens would have been all over the place?

My Out-law's keep chickens on their small holding in Suffolk, the chickens are in a big pen at night but run free during the day. Several times last year they got up to find the pen open, apparently the local plod said there are animal-rights 'groups' who encourage such a thing.

It stopped after Father out-law caught someone 'sneaking' down the drive one evening... Father out-law is a rather large man who at the time was on his way to bag some wabbits with his trusty 12-bore... nothing like it has happened in over a year.

Funny that.

I blame Sanders and his 'fresh chicken, to every store, every day' policy.

You would be surprised how well foxes can dig to get to a chicken, even buried fencing doesn't work that well at keeping them out.

It seems a strange thing for someone to do, maybe they were pissed off by the noise?

Apparently they liked the chickens, as they were getting free eggs. I am also going on the supposition that the person responsible for this act is by definition a scrote, what remains to be seen is whether or not it was that particular scrote.

The door was deliberately unlocked. The fence was unbreached and I gather it is either buried really deeply or continues under the ground to prevent digging foxes. I've not seen the run first hand yet as I was hoping to go and see it this week but apparently it is really solid.

Why would someone intent on doing something nasty just rely on the HOPE that a fox will go in? Surely they'd kick them about or take them out and release them.

Not just open a door and hope for the best.

I reckon human error.

It's a shame about the chickens, and a shame we have such pricks in our society.

But even more so a shame that this thread wasn't about ninja chicken killing machines frown

The chooks run around the house during the day apparently, and she deliberately put them in the run when she is out/overnight so unlikely.

This near Greenwich in London. There are LOTS of foxes, always, and the foxes have had one of her chickens before, although in the last case she was keeping one separate from the others in a shed, and the fox got in by itself.
