What is the general consensus on these? Are they good value or are there better alternatives in my price range(<5k)? I had a Caterham 1700 many years ago and that was great fun but fancy something a bit different (and cheaper wink)

Yes, they're excellent.

At least as good as any of the competition, dynamically.

You could argue that the aesthetics are a matter of personal taste (particularly on the 'Seven' style Stiker rather than the Clubmans/Phoenix cars) and the detailing is a bit more amateurish than some (riveted-on ali side panels and rear tub/wings, etc.), but if you want a car to drive, a well built and set-up Striker is as good as anything on the market.

ETA: I've had a 1700 Crossflow Caterham, too, and I rate my live axle Sylva as dynamically the better car, even if you don't take into account the price differential. The IRS Sylvas are even better...

Thanks for the feedback, it's good to know they are up to the job as a drivers car. The looks are different but I've always quite liked them.

First class smoker, plenty of engine options, loads of owners/resources/spares options.

On average not quite as resolved in terms of fit and finish as a modern Caterham perhaps, but brilliant to drive as a sunshiney toy!
