Bid For Rally Rides At Goodwood FOS

Fancy riding with Ken Block or Freddy Loix? This could be your chance

Mr Block
Mr Block
There are many exciting things to do at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, with the star attraction being the PistonHeads stand shared with our friends from Classic & Sports Car and Autocar. Apparently there are some fast, rare and exotic cars in attendance too which should offer an entertainment alternative when you tire of the PH offering.

If that wasn't enough for one day, we were contacted by the good people behind Headway (the official charity of the Goodwood FoS) this morning, who asked if we would be interested in promoting their fantastic auctions being held at the FoS this weekend. How could we refuse such a great charity, especially when the available prize is happening at an equally great event?

Mr Loix
Mr Loix
Thanks to the charity, there are two extra-special rally ride experiences going under the hammer for charity. You could join US superstar Ken Block in his Monster World Rally Team Ford Focus RS WRC on Sunday, or IRC Ypres Rally winner Freddy Loix in his Skoda Fabia S2000 on Saturday for a passenger ride around the famous Goodwood rally stage.

Both experiences consist of one flat-out run up the legendary Goodwood hill and two runs through the forest stage - that equates to around 20 mins sitting next to two of the world’s most skilful off-road drivers at the UK’s most historic motor racing venue.

To be in with a chance of landing the once-in-a-lifetime rally experiences simply send your auction bid (whatever you think is a fair price) for either drive via e-mail along with your contact details. Please ensure that you clearly state which ride you are interested in.

All the money raised via the auction will go to Headway, the official charity of the 2010 Festival of Speed.

Terms & Conditions:

Auction bids close at midnight on Wednesday 30th June, and winners will be notified by phone and email on Thursday morning. Tickets will be sent registered delivery on Thursday.

Payment is required at the event before entry into the vehicle.

Entrants must be over 16 years of age and reasonably fit.

Passes for the event will be supplied for each winner and one other guest (day of prize only).

Your details will not be used for any third-party marketing

I am not sure 'win' is the correct term....

Wouldn't 'buy' or at the least 'bid for' be more accurate!

Would absolutely LOVE a passenger ride on the Sunday, but most of my money has been spent on the bloody tickets to get in!

Reckon a fiver and a packet of hob-nobs would do it?

Mmm...good cause granted. Great if you're minted. Bit like the rest of the FOS event really! £124 for two on Friday with roving grandstand tickets is a bit rich in my opinion.

Exclusivity is never inexpensive.

In the words of Rab C Nesbitt....(you can guess this bit).

So this is just a normal auction!? So you have to be quite rich to be in with a chance, I'm guessin'? why don't they give normal folk a chance!? they get a lot of money from the event anyway. frown

If you'd have said a fiver and some Rich Tea's you'd have a deal, but I'm not giving up my Chocolate Biscuits for a 1.4 ZR! biggrin

As has been said, its a very worthy cause, but for an event thats already very expensive, its a pity a prize like this will just go to the person with the biggest wallet.

Gutted I haven't had a phone call this morning. I was sure my offer of a tenner and a packet of Maryland cookies would blow away all the other bids, but it looks like I've been outbid. frown

You won?! Well when you go up the hill, look out for someone giving you the finger from the sidelines...

...that'll be me! biggrin

Will you reveal how much you bid?...
