This year we have rented a Gite about 20km from Le Mans for the Classic. As we had to rent it for the week, half our party (the half with sensible jobs) have decided to use the full week so we will be around until the Thursday after the race.

So, any suggestions on what 3 petrolheads should do, apart from sit in the sun and drink wine? Our transport for the week will be the '35 Rolls, so things to do within a reasonable distance would be good, the Rolls does get you there, but not quickly. Also, we will be driving it to/from Aberdeen so something other than driving would be nice!

Worth a visit if you can be bothered with the drive. Been there a couple of times on the way to the Angouleme weekends.

Otherwise sit in the sun and drink wine.

Falaise Pocket Museum (WW2) is not far from Le Mans and well worth a visit:

Many other museums and memorials nearer the coast. The above site has lots of good information.

Or sit in the sun drinking wine!
