...to being run over.

About 20mins ago.

Still can't believe it. And I've still got the shakes.

I'd just been down for a couple of pints, was walking home. Approaching a side road to cross, with a van waiting at the junction to turn onto the main road. Cars parked on the pavement to my right.

the red line is me walking along.

The green line is the complete who thought he could save a little bit of time by taking a blind corner on the pavement.

Except I was on the pavement. If I'd been 10ft further forward he would have hit me.

I sort of stopped and stared, really not knowing what to make of the situation. Then I just walked on. When I was out of the way, he drove between the garden walls and the parked cars to park up a little further down.

Worst thingis, I'm a placid and easy-going bloke, I don't really know how to cope with rage. I want to take a hammer and go down and smash the st out of his car, then weait till the comes out and smash st out of him.. Which I know I wont do, but I really really want to.

fk, what the hell was going through this 's mind? I just don't understand it. He maybe saved 30secs of his journey time, by risking the life of some person unkpown to him.

I just hope karma gets him.

Thats Carlisle for you

if its any consolation a similar thing happened to me in Bradford except I was in a car. Its permisable to go through red lights there if you use the pavement.

10ft aint that close.

I've had my arse clipped by a wing mirror, and a mate had his head knocked by a trucks wing mirror while on his push bike yikes

When I was a kid, maybe about 12 or 13 years old, I have no idea what possessed me, but I just crossed the road without looking. A mistake that I will not make again, but you can guess what happened. Thankfully, the driver that nearly knocked me did stop with cm to spare and didn't lay into me as a result.

To this day, I still have no idea why I decided to just walk across the road!!!

A bit of boxing bag puching will do you a world of good.

You're okay now, so no harm done. But stressful I agree.

Possibly, although the only other thing I've seen like this was a couple of dicks on a motorcrosser, sans helmets, speeding down the pavement, weaving on and off the road... but that was years ago!

It bloody is when a car appears out of nowhere, heading straight for you!

Did you get the license plate? If so, report that to plod. Actually, report that to plod anyways, they might be able to get CCTV.

Oh, and the closest I've been to run over is when I had to leap into the air to dodge the bonnet of the car the lady thought would be fine to drive over the spot where I was. I managed to just leap over the corner of it.... In fact, it was so close that a bloke walked over to me and said he was amazed that I didn't swear at her or punch her lights out.

Cheers Soad. Aye, it could have been a lot worse. If the queue in the shop had been slightly shorter I could be in hospital right now.

Thing is, I've been properly angry only 2 or 3 times in my 35 years of living on this planet. How the hell do those 'angry' types manage to survive without their heads exploding?

J&J, good call. Had a walk back down and the car was still there, so took the number. I've got an appointment with Her Majesties finest tomorrow morning to fill them in.

I can't realistically see anything coming of this, but if this tw@ts number is on the police ANPR database, then maybe he'll get pulled.

We'll see. But I feel a hell of a lot better for having reported it.

ETA - I asked about the CCTV camera, which is only just up the road from where this happened..... but it was pointing the wrong way. Bloody typical!

I've just had some wky bus driver (154 if you care) decide that 1.5 bike widths is more than sufficient to give me as it drives at me at over 40mph as I climb a small hill. Oh, and he swore at me for some reason too.

I hope he gets home and his kid's have been murdered! mad

I nearly got taken out once, someone got some crazy oversteer round a bend in a cavalier (how, i don't know, it wasn't even the 4x4) he tried to correct it but he messed that up and was heading straight towards me. He ended up smashing into a wall a few metres behind me, shat me right up.

We has a lady in A&E last week, clipped on the head by an open door on a moving truck - ended up suffering a base of skull fracture! Luckily, she's ok (just).

Nah.

He came onto MY side of the road! Passing a row of parked cars. There was NO need for it. So realistically he endangered me for no real need. I hope bad things happen in his life as a result. Karmas a bh aint it smile

You have to be sanguine about these things. The fact is you weren't 10ft further along, and you weren't hit. Yes, he's a tt, but you're OK, and that's the main thing. smile

I got mown down on a pedestrian crossing by a woman with no lights on one November night. Smashed my shoulder, damaged my knee, and broke her windscreen with my head, but the way I see it is that another five minutes either way, and it might have been an artic, not a Honda Civic.

You have to roll with the punches. Or something equally vacuous...

After a few beers, I'm a bit more sanguine about this event. And I'm planning on becoming even more sanguine! drink

Hope you're ok now after your run in with a windscreen...
