I have a Shimano sealed bottom bracket and the plastic collar on the non-drive side has cracked, so I get a bad creaking noise when I pedal

it's the same as this (nabbed from another form)

The BB spins smoothly, it's just there's a tiny bit of lateral movement when I pull the crank arms, and I guess the BB is moving slighly within the frame.

Do I have to replace the whole BB or can I find a replacement collar from somewhere?

This happened to me, I just superglued the crack and reinstalled the BB, has been fine ever since.

Does anyone knows a place that sells metal cartridge BB cups?

If I ignore it will it fall apart, or is it mainly just likely to make an annoying creak?

I don't remember what size it is, is 68x113 usual for a MTB with three chainrings?

I doubt it will fall apart if you leave it, although it may shorten the life of your BB.

The size will be printed on the BB cartridge.
