There's what 'I' think is an Apache Helicopter circling overhead, and has been a couple of times this week.

Very low and very close, but I have no camera.

It's got the 'bulb' bit above the rotors and certainly looks like what I think an Apache is, but I don't know any other smilar helicopters to confirm.

However, what on earth is an Apache (looks armed to the hilt!) flying over Lowestoft for?

Any ideas?

It's looking for you! yikes

They're based just down the coast at Wattisham, so Lowestoft isn't that far for them to go.

Looks just like that.

Just odd that it was circling above us for a couple of days running.

I did say to the boss "go out in the field and hold a calendar tube on your shoulder and point it at them"

Nice looking pieces of kit.

Not as big as I expected.

I'll see that, and raise you 2 flying over Fleet today smile
Even one of my colleagues who doesn't like aircraft pointed them out to me, saying I there's an Apache out there!

You do have to wonder about the navigation skills of the pilots though - all the Apaches and Chinooks do when they overfly us at work, is fly along the M3 or the railway to Basingstoke biggrinbiggrin

Old tech is the best - the enemy can't jam railway lines!

Not far from Wattisham here so I see one or two of these quite often. Surprisngly noisy, not likely to sneak up on you.

I'll raise you.

Monday last week I was visting a client in Wallingford and a Benson based Merlin passed right over his rooftop in the town centre at an altitude of around 200 feet max. We could feel the downwash from the rotors in the garden. It was dangling an RAF pennant from the open side door so I think it was promoting Armed Forces Day the following weekend.

Spotted a single Apache flying down the M3 on Monday afternoon between Junc 3 and junc 4.

Plenty of them to see Near Andover, our house is on one of the flight paths as they cross the A303. Based at Middle Wallop

Saw one hovering over the field next to the road between Hathersage and Bamford in Derbyshire...

Must have been hunting rabbits...

And Ill raise you several Pumas, the odd Merlin,an A109, quite a few Lynx and as many Apaches as you could shake a stick at! (not to mention the odd Typhoon driving by and a Sentinel doing circuits) biggrin
It helps that I work at Wattisham
