peeling laquer

I have some peeling laquer on part of the door on my car, and was wondering what harm it would cause if left as it is? or is it advisable to get it redone and get the panel resprayed?

the exposed paint has a couple of coats of long life sealant (with 100% UV protection) and also 2-3 layers of heavy duty wax to help slow any degrading processes.
