Chaps

Has any tried or got one of the new 320d Efficient Dynamics. The ones with all the eco-tech only 109 CO2’s? So very low in Company Car Tax.

I need to choose a new company car, and from what else is on the list it’s a no-brainer, but any first hand experience would be appreciated.

Cheers

Yeah I wanted to look at one but apparently they can't have them as Demo cars because they don't have any unsold examples for the next 3 months at least.

So you've got to buy on spec and then join the big queue.

I've seen a couple parked outside BMW HQ in bracknell ( as I work up the road from there) but thats been it.

I think you get a better spec with a 318d SE and the BIK tax on this is lower as the list price is lower. You lose 20 bhp but both are in the 13% C02 bracket. New company car time again for me too. I was wanting a 118d coupe but not on our list. I've also looked at an ES model and speccing it up but it doesn't add up.

Unfourtunatly its either the 318es (poo spec) or the 320 Efficient Dynamics. No SE, due to our odd Company Car list.

I drove a 320 ED earlier today, nice car, same spec as the 320D SE.

Pulled well and good MPG, can't fault it.

As per previous comment, the 320d ED is smae spec as the SE models apart form the alloy wheel size and design. ED models have 16" rims wheras SE's have 17's. Lower suspension on the ED. 320d ED goes much better than a 318d. It really is a 'no-brainer' from a company car tax perspective. No other manufacturer gets to emissions this low without detuning the engines to sub 140hp

Oli.

Erm, completely wrong! Dealers are running them, mostly in their corporate depts. Chandlers are running one for starters. I ordered one for my fleet at the start of June and it arrives 2nd week in July! So no massive waiting lists either!

I've just taken delivery of one. I'm in a company car scheme and used to self source - they payed me cash and this kept my TT on the road for 10 years. But with the cost of fuel going up and up and an increase in my yearly milleage I needed something more frugal (and less expensice to maintain!). So I'm selling the TT while it's still got good mileage on it and opted for the 320d.

So far I'm impressed with the comfort, handling (getting used to rwd!), performance (though still being easy on the gas for first 1000 miles) and amazed by mpg. It's hardly apples to apples but the TT averaged 25mpg on my urban trip to work. The 320d is 44mpg, so far, but I still have bad habits like leaving my foot in the clutch and car in gear at the lights, which prevents the stop/start kicking it.

Space is fine and can squeeze the wife and kids in (but we have a SMax for that!). The 2ltr diesel smax will get 40+mpg at a squeeze on longer runs. It through the company car scheme the 320d stands out as an absolute bargain (list proice / monthly cost to me).

the usb audio interface works well too.
