Just got back from a ride today and I reached this point on the A22 going northways

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&a...

Take a nice right hander, blind exit but its obviously a one way road, short straight before a left hander.. to find a van with it's hazards on, stopped. Not in the lay by, not at the side of the road, but in the middle of the fking lane! Now I may have been travelling rather quick on the bike, the road was (previously) empty and has rather tasty bends, so I took evasive manoeuvres IE brake like a and hang off the side of the bike to get round on the right! Where I almost hit two 5 or so year old girls being lifted over the CENTRAL BARRIER by their brain-dead Mummy!
There was an Audi 80 stopped on the OTHER side of the road, facing the different direction but at least they had the sense to get just a little bit off the carriageway.
I got to the roundabout at the end of this section of road, which must be half a mile away. Realised I really should have stopped to see if everybodies ok and flag down traffic approaching the van but I was too angry to think before.. So as I go back down - southbound - I see the Audi still there. Note on the windscreen "Broken Down". The van was gone!
Turned around at the next roundabout to finally go home. It clicked. Retard Dyke Bint's Audi breaks down. Phone's Dad/Boyfriend/Baby Dada (maybe the same guy?) He arrives in van. The family's combination of a handfull of braincells doesn't think to get the van on the same side of the A22 as the car. So Dad/Boyfriend/Baby Dada (maybe the same guy?) stops the van, and Retard Dyke Bint (who was also fat and may well have been ginger) very carefully carries her precious little child credit darlings across the two lanes of 50mph(plus!) traffic on her side, and load them into the back of the van on the other side. Job done.
Sad to report that I was not able to cull some of these De-evolutionary members of the human race, mummy held a child over the barrier (don't worry about the traffic behind you, you cant see it so it can't be there!) whilst the other took evasive action of it's own. Wish I'd stopped, and hit every fking one of them in the organs. Live and learn though.
And I'm probably not allowed to mention that the reg number of the Audi is F952SJD. Didn't manage to catch the van's.

Internet poster? admitting mistake??

What is the world coming to.. smile

To be fair I'm also guilty of the same crime every now and again, guess this serves as a reminder that you really do need to assume that every other road user is an idiot!

Should I remove a certain post? I've not been here long and I'd hate to have exhibited poor etiquette by admitting an error. Is that very un-PH?

Why does the name Stigmongfrued come to mind?

I think this post summs up why bikers make up a disproportionate number of fatalities.

You even admitted you were going too fast. Getting annoyed at others because of your stupidity doesn't make you look good.

I went past that car at about 15:30. Nobody around but was starting to cause people to swerve at the last minute to get round it as thd hazards where not that bright and at first glance coming round thd bend it just looked like it was indicating to overtake.

Out of interest why did you say that in the IOM thread? I couldn't understand at the time.

And I may well be a willy, but I am not Clarkson!

It had a horrendous reputation for accidents, usually due to people going too fast during wet weather, when that stretch becomes incredibly bad for aquaplaning due to the combination of steep grade and poor drainage.

It improved somewhat when the London-bound side was changed to one lane (which takes the "racing line" around the sweeping downhill bends) as anyone going quickly was less likely to get caught out by how sharp the corners are, and a couple of years later they improved the central barrier but at the same time put the 50mph limit in place.

I always find that stretch very annoying (frequently use it as I have lots of family in Warlingham/Caterham area) as the 50mph limit is too low in good conditions and much too high in poor conditions, when often even 30mph is dangerously fast due to rivers on the road. It would be much better left at NSL with VAS/rumble strips to warn people about the corners.

Taking of rivers I remember the road just a bit north that once had a river running across it. Probably a couple of feet deep. It knackered my alternator.
