I watch alot of live TV via my pc on iplayer and just now the "Watch live" on iPlayer now says cannot show this particular program for legal reason. Why is this? Its on the tv in the lounge fine but wont play online.

Is there any particular reason for this?, iPlayer requires a TV Licence to be watched legally of which i have so surely the program should be aired on "Watch Live"?

For example if someone had a TV Licence but only used iPlayer to watch live tv then they are missing out.

Try http://www.tvcatchup.com/ instead

You can watch all of these channels, with a 30s delay from live.

It was "A question of sport", so not really sure why legally they cant show it confused

But it has now popped back online ready for rogue traders.

Googled it, and the reason is that QoS uses loads of clips which usually come from external production companies. Since most of those clips are old, the license for them is only for UK TV broadcast, and not for internet.

You get the same with Family Guy and American Dad. As FWD suggests, TVCatchup shows all free view channels and is not bound by the legal stuff that stops the Beeb broadcasting certain programmes live online, hence you get everything unadulterated as it would be received by your TV.
