A bit earlier i heard a knock at the door and was greeted by a small child with a gormless expression. He looked awkwardly at me and then started pointing down the road to where his mate was...I looked down the road to see the other child he was pointing at and this kid came wondering over and thrust a pice of scrap paper in my hand.

On this paper was a rudementary street map of my neighborhood. After studying it for a minute i gave it back to them and asked "Are you lost or something?"

The bigger kid grunted at me, and started using sign language so i looked at the smaller kid for an explanation and he started doing the same thing!

OK so i have two deaf Mute children and a map. One of them realises his mistake and takes the map back and turns it over to reveal a scrawled note:

"i am doing a sponcered bike ride for asma, will you sponcer me."

I could not see any way to ask them anything about it and one of them was shaking a tin of money, so they obviously expected to be paid today.

I ushered them away from my door, but i feel pretty guilty about it now hehe

Pikeys.

Lock up your doors, windows, garage and shed. Nail bits of wood crookedly across them too. Don't leave home for several weeks or they'll clean you out.

If they looked like respectable types trying it on, might have stuck twenty quid in or something for providing me with the amsuement, if they looked pikeyish... nah.

Should have been obvious from the handwriting which was more likely. Pikey handwriting will be fine but spelling and grammar atrocious.

Good choice, that'll stop the little wannabe pikeys from trying it on ever again.

For twenty quid I can get a lapdance or I can bring amusement into some enterprising mini del boys' lives for years to come, I think the latter is a better choice for society biggrin

This sort of thing happens quite alot. Mostly Eastern Europeans, I once got handed a piece of paper from a woman with a girl saying on it something like '10 pounds for half an hour with my daughter'

No doubt the adult would have been lurking, they weren't deaf just didn't speak English.

Should have negotiated it down to £7.50 as she probably wasn't a higher rate tax payer

What you should of done was taken the bit of paper, held your finger up at them as if to say "wait there one minute" closed the door, got a pen out and corrected all the bad spelling, marked it with a big red F, opened the door and hand it back to them with a look of disappointment on your face

I think they were actually deaf though, or good little actors!

All very strange. I would have thought they could have arranged to have a hearing person around to explain what was going on and make the whole experience less awkward for all concerned.

I probably would have sponsored them if he wasn't shaking the cash tin..having said that..they wouldn't know it was making an annoying racket I suppose hehe

I don't know how genuine they seemed as I wasn't there an' everything but if they seemed deaf and just a bit shabby I'd have given them a few quid, who gives a fk?

I feel bad about not giving them something, but at the time i felt i was being pressured into coughing up and it got my heckles up.
