My self build has an external staircase and I need to skim up the wall where the breeze blocks form the bottom of the chimney, the rest should paint up ok as it is concrete.

Any tips of the best way of diy-ing this, I was going to use a sand cement mix with a bonding agent, floated on and use some beading on the top and sides to keep it tidy, sponging down as I go. Then a lick of masonry paint!

Two coats of sand and cement will be fine.

I posted a little how too a few days ago on a subject about a chap who's render had fallen off.
