As many of you know, my car technical abilities aren't the greatest, the whole sum being replacing a battery (once) and fixing the non dropping driver's door window (twice, which entailed removing door card, wiggling the wires and hey presto).
So, last weekend my drivers door release button stopped working. I said to myself "c'mon Fubes, you can do this!"
Out with the tools, off with the door card. Aha! there's a loose wire! Result!
Went to Halfwits, purchased myself some bullet connectors. Crimped both ends, pushed them together. Easy peasy.
Put it all back together, pressed the button....NOTHING
Took the connectors off again, put new ones on. Still nothing. Checked everything else works (electric mirrors, window, lights, door speaker). Hmmmm
So, I reverted to form and booked the car in to Austec
Went to the car last night to put the door card, screws etc inside ready for this morning, like an eejit, completely forgot the button wasn't working and went to open the door, and POP it flies open. I stand there with a quizzical look on my face, try it again. Yup, all working! Unbelievable! I've 'fixed' it again
Anyway, the main reason for my rambling post (other than to show you all I do try to fix my car at times) is does anyone know what the wire in the picture is actually for? Whether connected or not everything works (and I now know that the door release wiring isn't one of the ones behind the door card) so WTF can it be for?

It's an easy job. About 10 Allen headed bolts all round the inside edges of the door. Along the bottom, near the door hinges and in the door shut. Support it Hold it when you undo the last one, it is quite heavy and will drop off. You need to disconnect the wiring to get it off fully.

Don't have to take the door card out for the read switch. It's mounted on a plate with a single screw. Undo the screw, pull it out and the wire will come out out with a connector. Unplug and your done.Byker28i said:

The speaker works (I think?) but has had new speakers put in by the previous owner so I suppose it could be a redundant wire from the previous setup?
Actually, IIRC, the 'pair' was a similar white/orange one going into the blue terminal

I may be talking sperical objects....but aren't some fancy speakers dual core/cone ie 4 wires required rather than just 2....are the speakers now fitted just single core/cone needing just the 2 wires then ??? So there's another doing nothing there aswell ?
