This year's Warranty Direct figures look good for the Japanese and bad for the Europeans.

A more interesting set of figures I'd like to see from them is how many times they avoided paying out a warranty claim on technical loopholes.

I didn't mean to draw comparisons between England and Germany hehe But now that's been pointed out frown

However rather a lot of people perceive German cars to be very reliable and not one is in the top 10 wink

These were the 10 most reliable car manufacturers:

1. Honda

2. Subaru

3. Mitsubishi

4. Lexus

5. Toyota

6. Mazda

7. Nissan

8. Skoda {arguably, being part of the VAG group)

9. Kia

10. Mini

I have a friend (blonde with big "shoes") that drives a clubman and it's rattling quite badly. She however is certain that there is nothing wrong with the car.

There you go, no warranty claim biggrin.

Still, not good for Alfa as they take 2nd last, expected better.
LOL @ BMW & Audi tough heherofl

they must be more reliable than the last Civic I had then. Complete waste of money. Total electrical failure 3 times (twice at night).

Oops missed Mini and Skoda. Still, shocking performances from BMW and Audi.

So how can the Mini and BMW brands be so different when they are made by the same company?

Doesn't PSA built the MINI engine, while BMW has their own engines? hehe

What all these surveys fail to highlight is a lot of unreliability is to do with the customers treatment of there new car. How many problems could be avoided if people werent so stupid as to continue driving a car with known faults until it literally will not drive - my dad is one of these types so he could destroy company cars in months and that is no fault of the manufacturer.

So japanese still are the most reliable? Despite toyota's safety concerns and minor "issues". Will it ever change?

That's going to be a kick in the teeth for all the Alfa fanboys telling us that 'they're no less reliable than other cars these days'. That said I know you've got to take these warranty tables with a pinch of salt, bias etc etc

Table is for 3-10 year old cars.

When did PSA engine go into the Mini? (2007- present)

Why are there no PSA cars in the top 10? hehe

Warranty Direct include the cost of repair as in the grading don't they? So BMW and Audi may actually be more reliable than their position indicates. But when they fail it costs a bloomin fortune...

Could be, could be the same for LR tough.

Don't think it counts, as they said Mazda was bleedin' expensive to repair, yet it's very high on the chart.

For BMW I could understand it, but they have other USP's, for Audi imho it would be a total nono. I can't imagine why I would ever buy an Audi runabout save for reliability...

Try living with one! had mine 18 months 60,000 miles, turbo went, crankshaft position sensor went(3 weeks in SAAB waiting for part), egr valve replaced twice, washer jets fused if you used them in the cold, never started first time. Glad to see the back of it.
