HI
I have had the charge cooler pump on my 1989 turbo se recondition during which time it had metal sprayed on the shaft due to corrsion and new seals fitted. The system was flushed and the pump refit .This has lasted about 8 weeks ,now it has started to leak again .It appears to be coming from the side bolted on to the engine .Has the pump seals failed again or could it just be the gasket .Any ideas

Hi,

I don't get what you mean here at all. I have rebuilt both an '89 and a '95 chargecooler pump and this called for replacing the impeller and selas/cover gasket.

If you have a leak, it's most likely to be the cover gasket, but there isn't much way to remotely diagnose what's going on.

Raise the car and get under to inspect this area thoroughly. Also, what does your oil look like? Since the chargecooler pump and the oil pump share the same shaft, you want to make sure no coolant is migrating into the oil. Look for cloudy, brown emulsified oil, this would be a bad thing if you found it. Happy Motoring!... Jim'85TE
