Ok, a couple of birds have made a nest in my guttering just under the tiles. Trying to figure out what they might be. I don't recognise them (I mean I've seen that kind of bird before but never been able to identify them... or I wouldn't be posting this, would I?) but I'm sure they are British birds. They're small and grey and the male is fluffy. I've ruled out: owl, swan, goose, chicken, turkey, puffin, buzzard, eagle, osprey, pterodactyl, drunk student wes, aeroplane, jet fighter, helicopter, roflcopter, International Space Station and Sputnik. I would take a picture but they don't loiter outside the nest much.

Any suggestions?

How do you know it's the male?

Oh, big assumption. It's the bigger of the two. I suppose if it were related to the preying mantis, I'd be wrong.

No need for that kind of language. I'm only asking.

Very topical.
Recently re-introduced successfully.
But probably a house sparrow.
Could be a lot of other things though.

ETA I thought long-term PHers were known for their "loitering" abilities.

Can't tell. Can't see the nest. Too high up to access, too.
