My pay pal account now has limited access. I cant use it basically, no funds transfer, no closing of the account. Pay pal want a copy of Photo ID such as a driving licence and proof of address, to review, before removing the limitations.
Iv'e had the account for years without any problems so I'm a bit suspicious about this sudden request for additional information.

Has anyone else had this or is it some sort of scam?

Is this because you have gone over a threshold of income for the year?

Did you get this information through an e-mail? Or is it there when you log in?

Verify the source of the question, and where you're sending your ID.
If it's paypal, I'd be inclined to just do it, as it's probably for your own protection.

Did the email start with
Dear Mr John Smith.

as fraudulent emails do not know your name. Its even more funny if your account is something like fatspider@xxxx.xxxx as you get emails like Dear Mr Fatspider and it shows straightaway that its fraudulent.

I used Paypal when I was in Thailand the last time. Got back to UK a few weeks later and had to resubmit all the ID malarky as Paypal thought "suspicious activity" had taken place.

You been Paypalling from sunnier shores? biggrin

no such limited access on my account, which is 8 years old, no new rules or emails from paypal here. Is your account 'verified'? Or have you put a lot of money through there? (I think theres a limit of about £10k a year without being verified, but cant remember for sure)

tread carefully

Information was there when I log in,

Ive rang paypal and the guy I spoke to cant really say why its happened, other than possibly something suspicious has happened,
I was abroad recently and used e-bay so could be that.
only light use on the account so that's not a worry. Just dont know anyone else it has happened to so was a bit wary of sending additional info

I’ve got limited access as I’ve apparently indicated I am a charity... and my account is suspended until I give proof that I am from a charitable organisation... WTF?!??

Despite many mails to them, there has been sweat FA response...

It's worth giving them a bell - I've always had more success in dealing with PayPal issues over the phone, rather than via e-mail smile

Happened to me many times over the past few years (had many multiple accounts) - it doesn't take much to set it off (or didn't take much back then).
The only way to get round is to complete all the required steps they're asking you to do. Or start over with a new PP account using new bank account details (and phone, email etc).

Do a search, there was similar threads made in the past.
