I get what you are saying and have thought the same myself, but then thinking deeper about it...In the 1800's I bet people were saying "I feel sad that those being born today will never have experienced life without gas lighting and horse drawn carriages and probably wont appreciate it so much.
In the 1500's - "I feel sad that those being born today will never have experienced life without easily farmed foods and wont appreciate it so much."
In cave man type days: "I feel sad that those being born today will never have experienced life without caves to live in and fire and probably wont appreciate it so much."
Ignore the dates, I know they are way out, but my piont is this, who knows what the next generation will get?
"I feel sad that those being born today will never have experienced life without time and space travel and probably wont appreciate it so much."
5 years eariler making the 90s my main years 17 onwards but even then Im not sure as Im enjoying things and how they have panned out so far so not bothered... I really cant think of a choice (other than with SWT) that I would have made my current situation any better?
I took all the risks when given them, enjoyed the technology at an early enough stage when you had to learn it rather than google it, which was great.
My only wish is that the current generation 17-23 had the same respect and morals that my generation 31-32 had and have... the chavs now a day are f
king disgraceful where as the same type of peopl in my generation grew out of it and are fairly normal (ish)

It really grates me when people say that the younger generation will inevitably has a less fulfilling life because they will miss out on the simple things that the older generation used to enjoy. Its all relative. When you were a kid, the older people will have felt sorry for you because you would have never experienced life without what they saw as modern technology. You would have never had the simple joy of having to ride a horse to work, or catch and kill your own food. The bottom line is that life moves on and technology has been moving forward since the days we lived in caves. Each generation sets their childhood experiences as the benchmark. The stuff that happened before is irrelevant just as living in a cave catching wild boars with spears was irrelevant for you.
I have a mate who says he was born in the wrong generation. The reality is that is just a boring fart who has nothing good to say about modern things and will intentionally surround himself with older stuff and complain about modern things essentially just for the fact they are modern. The world changes. Live with it and accept the change, rather than fight it, because otherwise you will inevitably just turn into a grumpy old man harping back for the olden days (which were in fact the modern, crappy days as far as your grumpy grandparents were concerned)
