Have you seen the price of a new one! not a great deal more for the ACT jobbie. 2nd hand maybe a scrapper will have one. There is a TVR breaking on flee bay at the moment with an S6 engine ask them and see what they say. 2nd hand parts seem rather expensive for TVR's not worth it IMOOr has anyone fitted k&n filters or similar alternatives? i cant justify buying a beautifull carbon fibre one at the momemt.

Went for the ACT carbon one after spending weeks of ringing around TVR breakers with no joy , spoke to tvr power etc and all ended up back with carbon one and said you will have no chance finding a good conditon one.
Mine is not badly damaged as such just the usual out of shape so that the filter is not sealing correctly and the engine can draw in unfiltered air .
Rang one breaker who said they had a slightly damaged one with usual distortion problems too and they wanted £250 for it
As i have a very low milage 2006 engine fitted with a couple of upgrades too thought it was worth the money to prolong the life of the engine with a proper intake box that seals and filters unwanted dust and muck , than carry on running with the original one

When i spoke to Tim about that he said the cost would be very similar may be around £100 cheaper out of fibreglass as its to do with the method of molding and time involved more than fancy materials . This was not sale talk just a general chat about his carbon products as i have dealt with him in the past .

You could try and get hold of Peter Brem Brem (in Switzerland).. he made a new airbox design... he also gave me the info for the hinged bonnet which S&D now sell.

spoke to him on the phone and by email and was ready to buy the slightly damaged and distorted air for £250 + vat + p&p , i asked for a couple of photos of the SLIGHT damage a few of times and the pics never did get sent to me .
rang again and seemed that he could not be bothered and he said "that they are like rocking horse sh*t and you will never find a good one"
thats why i went the new carbon route , 3 breakers all said the same thing back

Bet you darent tell the insurace company you have a carbon fibre air box,, big no no and wont get paid out if she backfires and goes up in flames,,
the plastic ones were bad enugh But carbon fibre TUT TUT TUT.

If the original air box was metal your argument could stand up. but the original is plastic the carbon fibre box is still a form of plastic but with the benefit of being reinforced with a substance that has already been burnt. i.e carbon.the plastic ones were bad enugh But carbon fibre TUT TUT TUT.

I did tell my insurance company (Mannings) in writing...also told them that I was minimising the possiblity of an insurance payout for a fire caused by a back fire in TVRs plastic box the plastic ones were bad enugh But carbon fibre TUT TUT TUT.

. No real performance enhancement even with carbon trumpets. I tell my insurance company absolutely everthing I do to the car then I'm covered..so far nothing has affected my policy with Mannings.Although I suspect the oiled Air filter is probably the biggest issue.
