Ever been in a TV audience?

I missed out on tickets for comedian John Bishop's tour this year (available only on the bay at up to £80 a pop!! :-O )
Got a link from his Facebook group and I'm now the holder of four tickets for the filming of his new TV show...for free in three weeks time!! :-)
Anyone else been in a TV audience? Is it all hanging around and retakes etc? Either way I can't wait!!
(MODS..this is about general life stuff rather than specific TV shows etc, can it stay with the populous in The Lounge please?)

I went to watch my uncle's pub quiz team in the final of a pub quiz competition called Quiz Night. Stuart Hall was the presenter. He paid them a few compliments because they were from Aston-u-Lyne, which is his home town. The most entertaining bit was watching the other team's captain throw his toys out of the pram, accusing Stuart Hall of rigging the questions in my uncle's pub's favour.

Many moons ago, college did a trip to be the audience for Father Ted - it was excellent, they filled the waiting around bits really well with a bit of improv and messing around, but also some informative production bits too (that may have been just for the benifit the colleges).
John Bishop, £80 a ticket!? I know he's good, but maybe that stint on Skins has got his coffers demanding a higher price!?

Saw TPT unravel under Skinner, and try to explain it on Clarkson's short lived chat show.
Various panel shows and sitcoms.
I suspect that once you start attending you move up the list, they want bums on seats.
You do get to see a fair amount of stuff that doesn't make the screen but should..
Fry's thoughts on H+S when we did QI were most entertaining.

Long tiring day though.
Only thing is ... once you see how it's done, it did spoil TG a bit for me. For example, the first thing we did was record 20 minutes of different kinds of laughs (big, small, titters etc). Odd thought I. But later on you saw why they needed it. Take one of a cut scene, a presenter would make a funny. Take two of same scene, same script, same joke. Cue slightly smaller laugh. Take 3 ... 4 ... 5 ... by this time there's barely a giggle, so they overdub later with the prerecorded laughs. Trouble is now, I can spot when they overdub (look closely at the audience at joke time, sometimes no-one's moving their mouths)
We had David Soul as the star-in-the-cheap-car
Oh, and at the breaks Jeremy stayed and talked to us mere mortals ... the other two bu**ered off to the trailer sharpish.

I was doing a tour of the CNN studios in Atlanta a few years back and, once the (admittedly very pretty) girl heard the British accent, was prevailed upon to join an audience. Sat down and watched the 'star' do his thing, but then one of the early questions was 'should women be allowed in the Army?' Oops, redneck TV. I kept very quiet despite the meaningful looks from the hottie, and bailed out at the first break.
Thought my moment of vanity would be overlooked, but one of my US colleagues actually watched the show and commented on my appearance in the front row.
So, yes - been in a TV audience.

Former girlfriend I went with was convinced she could hear me laughing on the soundtrack of the Red Dwarf episode we went to. A lot of the outakes and reshoots are fantastic.
Got tickets for the lates series of Argumental, two half hour shows recorded at once and each was probably a bit under an hour long.

Managed to get to see Top Gear about four years ago. Doctor Who was the Reasonably Famous Driver of a Car.
Enjoyed the experience. Was there from about 1pm until 6pm and that was just to fill the one hour show. You watch the pre-filmed elements as you would at home and then they take a couple of takes to do the fill between. It is all done well and the guys are even funnier off screen.
There are (or were) a lot of wannabes in the crowd. They rush to get in front of the camera and tidy themselves up in the meantime. Pretty tiresome stuff to be honest. They seem to think they might get spotted by some talent show scout. Strange.
But good fun and I'm glad I did it.
