Seat post advice please.

I've had a few seat post woes on this evenings ride. Got home, whipped the post off the bike and it's bent! Not by a huge amount, about 1.3mm measured against a straight edge with good quality automotive feeler gauges.

The post is an OE item and the bike is an '05 Kona Hahanna. Bin and replace, or re-fit and carry on? A snapped post 'on the trail' doesn't appeal...

Bin it, they're not that expensive and once it's deformed it's only going to get easier to bend again.

That said, if you're feeling flush I've been playing with a crank brothers joplin, they seem great if you're like me and adjust the saddle fairly regularly over the course of a ride

What happened? did you crash? I'm just leave it on there personally, but it's your call.

Bit curious really - jumped on the bike, only to find the saddle a good few inches lower than it should be. Adjusted it quickly and hit the trails. Needed to make a few minor adjustments during the ride but no big deal. My guess is that someone at home might have been playing with the bike while I've been at work. College exams have finished and our house has a 'bored person' at home at the moment...

Anyway, it's the first saturday of the month which means that Merlin Cycles' retail shop is open. Decided not to risk the bent post and picked up a shiny new Easton one - it's now fitted and all is right again in my little Kona world!

No I won't - I've made up my mind to get a new Kula as soon as the deals start appearing towards the Autumn/winter!

Before fitting, I did get the kitchen scales out to see how much weight I'm saving though.
