I agree 110%, not pleasant at all - just like a long list of current 'torture porn' cr@p.
I sometime think that film producers forget that the reason why some of the 70's/early 80's 'nasties' didn't do very well was not because they were banned (this only increased their often undeserved notoriety), it was because they weren’t really very good. (I remember watching the original last House on the left, I spit on your Grave etc, 27 years ago, and being underwhelmed then)

I absolutely love good horrors and thrillers, but The Strangers left me cold, it seems to try and play homage to these earlier ‘nasties’, which were in themselves, a bit (well, a lot) cr@p.
All IMOHO of course – am sure others will have the opposite view……

It was st yes. And not scary.

I just was quite shocked when they took their masks off and all took turns to stab them, gave me a bit of a chill.

Also WTF was the ending? Her opening her eyes and screaming?!

There's a similar film to this that I think is even more sick and disturbing than this one. I forget the name of it but it stars Tim Roth and the guy who played Kurt Cobain in Last Days.
