can dogs get colds ??

ours has symptoms what looks like green Phlegm coming from his nose , hes not sneezing , bit lethargic , hes had rabies injection , but got out last week with a load of strays ??

Please note : The local vet said it was due to a stomach upset and prescibed some pills to add to his food , they havent made a difference , she wont visit to examine him , as hes 90kg liable to bite her arm off if she tries any injections , this is Russia in a very primative village !!, the next large town is 500km away !!

just wonder if anyone has encountered these symptoms before in a dog

Check the dogs belly for a red square, this may indicate it has a mild cold war. Plenty if rest should see him ok.

Get a pair of stroikas just in case.

Well reading your original post it sounded like you were there with the dog. That being the case I was merely commenting that in your primitive village they had the internet.

That ok?

(Sorry if one '?' isn't enough. I'll add more if you think it looks better wink )

Is he vacc against anything else?

Kennel cough usually causes a hacking dry cough, which, when they get excited causes them to bring up frothy phlegm, you don't often get a discharge from the nose itself esp not green.

It could be a foreign body up the nose, it could be aspergillus fungal inf (not common), if I remember correctly it is one of the symptoms of disptemper (but I've never seen a case due to vaccines in this country and so trying to recall my student notes from a long time ago!)

Dogs don't get 'colds' really, they can get viral infections but it doesn't often show as colds like us.
