Hi,

Is it possible to sack someone with the reason that they are overperforming in the job/it's too easy for them? I'd have thought not and instead the whole performance review/promotion thing happens, but I am not sure.

Thanks

Surely if that was the case you'd delegate more work to them rather than firing them for doing a job quickly and well. You could potentially reduce hours though i guess, but it's rocky ground.

In this situation, it is likely that they have been in the job for less than a year. As such, this would be a polite way of saying that the employee just didn't fit in.

Perhaps you could give us a little bit more information. How long has the person been in the job? Are you a friend/partner of the person? Are you the employer who wants to sack the person? What is the job?

When you say 'possible' presumably you mean 'legal'?
In which case, of course it isn't. DO you really have to ask?
