Picking up French language TV channels on freesat?
Discussion
Looking for a French language version of France 24 or TV5, but after quick google I decided to ask for help here as I really don't have the energy to sift through all the s
t I'll get when looking for hotbird through a web search..
Have a Humax freesat Foxsat HDR so have a spare input at the rear, (flat is wired up for only 1 input), and have space for a dish outside to get a signal. Is this possible?
Merci buckets..

You can get
TV 5 Monde (France Belgique Suisse) and TV5 Monde Europe which both are clear (not encrypted) on Hotbird 13° East
with settings of 11137.00 H 27500 3/4
KingOfSat Search
France 24 - One channel in French and another in English which both are clear on Hotbird 13° East with settings of
11240.00 V 27500 3/4
You should be able to get the English version of France 24 from the same Satellite your system is already pointing at using 11661.54 H 27500 2/3. This is probably already listed on your Freesat channel list.

Not got Freesat (I just run a Technomate 9100 receiver with a 1m motorized dish) so not sure what the actual Freesat receivers are capable of exactle. I'll try to find an online manual for your Humax and see what it says.

Try This to free up to find the non freesat channels.
On the remote press MENU select SETTINGS press the right button and scroll down to STB mode, use the left / right button to select freesat or non freesat , you will have to re-tune for non freesat which takes some time. If you have set scheduled recordings on freesat then these programs WILL NOT be recorded in non freesat mode.
The problem with non freesat is that the channels are NOT in a logical order and the channel numbering is different, you can sort them into order but this took me the best part of Sunday morning and all in all not worth it as most of the extra channels are poor. The EPG is not as good in non freesat mode, you cannot search for whats on next and some channels don't have any listing. My box has gone back to freesat mode.
Travel channel is OK for insomniacs, Swiss railway Journeys is ideal if you are finding it hard to sleep, 5 minutes of this and you will be snoring like a train.
