60s/70s kids TV Trivia question

Hi,
Could anyone tell me the name of the 60s or 70s kids TV programme probably narrated by someone like Bernard Cribbins or Michael Bentine which always ended with the line,
"It's been a funny old day in ?????????"
"But then again, it usually was"
Something along the lines of Tales of the riverbank or Mr Benn.
I know someone on here will get it.
