gearbox/clutch prob

when engine is running car will not engage any gear but soon as i turn it off it goes in fine, its a tamora by the way, any ideas?

Any puddles on the floor lately? Any brake fluid left in the chamber? Sounds like at least a dodgy slave cylinder to me.

Could be clutch. I had this when my clutch went in 2006 during London Thunder. Couldn't engage gear whilst the engine was running. Could engage gear when engine was off. Needed new clutch and slave cylinder (£1500).

no puddles only serviced a couple of weeks ago so assume levels are ok, just went without warning pedal feels fine but will not engage.

have now removed the stopper under the clutch and can just about get in into the gears very stiffly which hopefully means i can get it to the garage under its own steam. it just seems strange how sudden it was ,no kind of warning signs or anything? not a happy bunny what with this nice weather.
