Can you guys help me identify this one. Found in Frankfurt, Germany.

From the bodywork I get the impression this can easily be a kit car.

it's on an 'H' historic plate, so it must be at least 30 yrs old and original - that rules out an MX5 based kit

Is there not a German version of what we have to check online to see if a vehicle has insurance etc? thus naming the car from the reg plate?

No idea. Your guess at this is as good as mine.

Very interesting, the lower centre console and middle console and centre armrest is from a Mk1 MX-5. The gear lever is where the handbrake would normally be. But, the dash, doors etc. bares no resemblence. very interesting. I do remember an old Datsun sports pre the Z-cars looking similar to the Toyota 2000. Actually, could this be a kit based on a 240Z? looking at the lights, gearlever and rear roofline, it could be.

Interesting find, it has a hint of the Daimler Dart SP250 about it but I've never seen a coupe version of that car. No idea really

Does the symbol on the grill lead us anywhere? Like 1/2 a large Citroen symbol.

Also is it just me or would the "wing" on the back generate lift?!

Depends - if the rear wing has been designed properly to help air over the Kamm tail then it might help a bit.

My guess is that this is a heavily modified Jensen-Healey. I base that on the width of the car, the positioning of the headlights, and the shape of the quarterlights on the doors. It's heavily modifed if it is though, since the Healey ran on 4 bolt axles for starters.

I don't know what it is - but do like it! Be tempted to knock on the apartment building door.

If it is there next time I pass by, I can put my business card under the windscreen wiper and ask the guy to contact me. But it is not always there.

I ask a fellow petrolhead, he commented as follows:
It's like what the Daimler Dart should have been. Daimler Dart rear wing shape (sort of). Side windows look like Nissan 240Z, but they aren't and the windscreen is not tall enough.

I think it is too long to be based on an SP250 http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/attachments/internat...

From the squared off edges to the roof I'd say it's a fibreglass kit. If it has to be 30+ to have a historic plate, could it be a kit built on a 30 year old car. Something with 5 stud wheels and a V-engine, maybe a Granada? The dash design looks old fashioned and the steering column also looks old fashioned (read that as 'dangerous') so maybe the whole thing is 30+.

Rather interesting - and with what looks like half a Citroen badge on the front. [or part of the Daimler logo from a dart]
Has the gear stick on the side of the tunnel like the Sunbeam Tiger does, so maybe it's using a US Ford box. So maybe US Ford engine and gearbox. Actually it does remind me of the Le Mans Sunbeam Tigers (a bit).

Or the short answer is, 'nope - never seen one of them before'.

it's not an early Wiessmann is it? They love to build mish mash looking sports cars with hints of all sorts of other classics in them...
