right, im 17 and drive a hatchback with an aftermarket exhaust. its not overly loud but you can hear it.
why do old people look at me as if iv just stabbed their dog to death? for example just now i was driving along a road near my house, i was doing about 54mph so wasn't speeding. two oap's then crossed the road about 200m in front of me so i slowed down, they had then completely crossed the road and i carried on driving past. both of them then looked at me as if they were so disgusted at me like i was a murderer. this seems to happen to me quite often. im just driving along doing nothing wrong, not speeding, revving my engine or anything like that (quite often going slower than cars in front) and old people give me a look of hatred and look as i go past and watch me as i drive away (i look in my mirror and they're just watching me untill im out of view).
what am i doing to deserve this automatic hatred from other people whom iv never met in my life?

Deluded- cheers for assuming my car is a piece of st and that i race it round everywhere driving like a complete dick. how very kind of you, i too am sure your car is also a worthless pile of crap.
by no means do i think that putting a louder exhaust on my car magically turns it into a Ferrari and im no wear near dissalusioned (sp.) enough to think that it has added 10hp and will give evo's a run for their money. its just a 1.6 citroen c2 that i now quite like the sound of as before i couldn't hear it at all and sometimes forgot it was even turned on!

Just ignore them. You liking the sound of your car and others not is only the same as a TVR owner loving the sound of their car and someone else not; it's purely subjective, so I don't see why Deluded has got his knickers in a twist over it.

As of the rest of it, why have your put a louder exhuast on your car? To draw attention to it/you. The same reason people polish them up, put trick looking wheels, radios that shake the mirrors off etc.
Seems as though it is doing the job your obtained it for, although the attention you're getting appears to be from women about 60 years older than you'd like. Dont knock it though, they can give wicked blow jobs once the dentures are in the Steredent.

Deluded is pretty much spot on, from the OAP's perspective, you've got a shopping trolley that’s unnecessarily loud, which to some older people means that even if you’re going 29mph in a 30, you must be speeding – ergo you are a menace to society and worthy of a scowel . . . . . . . . . Instead of simply being somebody pootling around in a small car that sounds louder than normal
