After doing the brakes on the Focus today the bolt that hangs the caliper to the hanger bit threaded itself so tried to recut the thread and use another bolt - this failed.

So im after the official name of the part that the caliper bolts to and perhaps a part no ?
Also after the bolt name / part no that attaches the caliper to the hanger thingy.

Thanks for your assistance !

Yes that is the part you need, Ford call it a hub knuckle joint, as for the bolts ask for the calliper bolts/sliders, they will know what you mean.

Hi George, sorry for dragging this up again - how did you get on changing the hubs? I changed my front brakes the other week and threaded the bottom caliper bolt on both sides. How likely am I to totally ruin this?! is it worth my paying someone to do it for me? Cheers

Hey there.
No worries, changing the hubs was a bit of a bind to be fair, everythings tight and rusted on, loads of wd40 brutal hammer smashing etc.. Also realised after driving away that i hadnt done the supporting strut thingy up tight enough and was getting some pretty awful clunking, so turned right around and back to my mates garage to get medievil on them bolts.
I'd say if youve got a competant mate whos willing to help whos got all the tools go for it, if not save yourself an hour or two and spend some £ !!

Ok it was my fault for not cleaning both surfaces sufficiently prior to trying to do them up, lesson learnt !

Hmm, think I'll take it to the garage, can see myself causing more harm than good!
