Twice in under 1000 miles my off side rear wheel has almost fallen off as all 5 bolts have worked themselves loose!


never had this happen to me before any one got any ideas as to possible cause?

threads seem ok

Not being done up tight enough, distorted wheel, or pissed off neighbour.

Cheers, definatley (hope i have spelt thant incorrectly) tight enough, neighbour is a top bloke so no worries there, best get wheel checked out then

standard wheels on a alfa 166, both times it has been the same wheel

Are they being torqued up?

Try swapping the wheels round, see if it switches side. Could also try swapping a couple of the wheel bolts from another wheel, not all of them and mark them up, see if those work loose.

paint a little tipex on a few faces of the bolt that way if someone is undoing them it will scratch the stuff off leaving a tell.

Afraid not. Just remember that the base word is 'finite'. Then you'll always be able to spell 'definitely'

Have you recently had a wheel refurb? Or painted the mounting surface of the hub to cover rust?
