Hi all,

My 21st birthday is coming up and i'm on the look out for a watch, have a budget of 2 to 2.5k, really like Breitlings (realise it may have to be used), but some suggestions would be great. Not really interested in old watches but something look stylish so open to ideas anyway...

Thanks
Tom

Breitling Navitimer. Instant classic, at home as an everyday beater, to dress watch. Extra points for being able to use the circular slide rule.

Don't buy a navitimer unless you have a ppl, or you'll look like a cock.

Does it need 'features'? Day/date, stop watch, etc...

I've had three Navitimers over the years and currently have a Speedmaster. I wouldn't choose either of these for an only, daily wearer, beater type watch. Both the Navitimers and the Speedies I've had have let in water, resulting in expensive repairs. If you really want a Breitling, look at the Windrider range. I have a Chronomat Evo which is rated to 300m. (Note I'm rated at 3m).

If it was me I'd be looking at a second hand Rolex sports model. You'd get an Explorer II in that sort of price range. Completely and utterly reliable and bulletproof. I've had about eight or nine Rollies over the years, and I've never had one go wrong. Plus they look good with a bit of WABI.
