I'm going to race Jason Plato at VXR Festival at Silverstone

I won a karting competition at the weekend, sponsored/subsidised by VXR Power. The prize is to race in a "pursuit race" at the VXR Power Festival at Silverstone at the end of August and, frankly, I'm over the flipping moon!
It's in a race prepped Corsa. I'll be finding out more details today/tomorrow when they ring me to confirm everything, but I need a racing license (National B, I think) to be able to do it - and so they're paying for me to get that too, at Thruxton next week. Fantastic!
As I say, it's in a pursuit race and will be with many touring car drivers (ok, so I won't even be close, but it will be an experience!).
This is the event it's being held at, and you can see all the drivers I'll be up against. Yikes.

On my saying to my girlfriend "You know, I'm a little nervous" she said "don't worry, just enjoy it!". "No, Gina, ENJOYING IT is not what won me this competition!!!!!".
You can bet your bottom dollar I'll be going for it!

The festival is Sat 28th and Sun 29th August - don't know yet which day I'm doing it, but will update this thread when I know more. Support would be much appreciated!!! Even if you'll probably see a jibbering wreck clammering into the car, followed by the biggest smile you're ever likely to see from inside a helmet as I drive past

The VXR power events are brilliant - I was at the track day in Anglesey a couple of weeks ago and had a great time. The race-prepped Corsas were there at the time as well, though they were reserved for the people who were on a different event to us. We had standard Corsas/Astras/Insignias. The instructors are all racing drivers and really help you get the most out of the cars.

You wouldn't believe how many people have said that to me Must admit, I really like Plato so looking forward to meeting him. Not sure I'll ever be close enough to trouble him, but having said that I'm not sure what a "pursuit race" is - it sounds like it's more timed action than on-track position. I.e. one sets of, 1min later that other sets off and then see how the gap ends after X laps. I don't know though. No matter what, it will be great fun and I'll do my absolutely best to learn all I can
