Hello

Mrs Arese had new rear discs/pads fitted last week by a local independent that we have used a few times before, without fault.

We collected the car and I followed her home, and I could hear the new brakes creating a 'scraping' noise even from my car, when she wasn't even braking.

We haven't used the car since, as we tend to use mine more. Is this normal and will it get better after a good run? Or shall I just take it back and get them to sort it? I've never had this problem before.

Should get better after a little while, I think it takes 100 miles or so to 'bed them in'. Might be an idea to leave it in gear rather than putting the handbrake on for a while too, should stop them sticking.

Ok, cheers Jonboy. I'll take it out for a run tonight and suggest we use it for our commute tomorrow. Especially as my fuel light came on this morning whistle

Not normal. The pads should 'float' away from the discs as the car is moving. It's pos that the pistons were not cleaned up before being pushed back into the calipers, hence the brakes would then bind. Worth getting it checked out as may ruin the new discs

Right, ok. I'll take it for a run tonight, and if it doesn't clear up then I'll take it back and get them to sort it.

Thanks

If you're arsed, a little stone had somehow flipped up and got stuck in the left-rear braking system. I had a quick look at the disc and it doesn't look damaged thanfully!
