Anyone know old horror films?
Discussion
There was a film I watched when I was a kid. It was a black and white horror film that I think it was made in the 1940's. It featured a man who had a ring that could summon a demon. Whoever possessed the ring would be mangled by said thing that would materialise out of a billowing cloud before your eyes.
(I think) the final scene featured a chap on a train realising he possessed the ring running over railway lines to escape the demon and then being found mangled by railwaymen.
I know it's a long shot, but does anyone have any idea what the movie might be?

I thinks "Night of the Demon" is a BRitish film dating from the late 1950s/early 1960s.
That was the movie - my old noggin took one look at the steam trains and the style of the movie and thought of the 40s.I recall as a kid in my cousin's house about 7 or 8 watching a late night double bill; night of the demon and the beast with five fingers. Needless to say I did not sleep well that night, especially when my cousin tried to strangle me a la movie!
Good films, black and white adds so much more mystery to suspense films - it lets your imagination run wild.

Amazing how much scarier films were in those days, compared with the "show everything" films of today.
... there were two others that scared the life out of me for years. One featured a biker gang who committed suicide and at the end were turned into standing stones and the second featured two 'possessed' or satanic type children, one of whom had the trick of opening his cloak and revealing his intestines and associated plumbing sans skin. Not nice for a kid holidaying in the desolates boggy wastelands of North Kent.
