Should a 500 start and run and idle smoothly?

Used to have a Chim 400 and had no problems...just wondering as I've been told that 500's can 'over fuel' and 'flood'? Just want to know in advance if this is a trait I should expect or not...

Nope should start and run fine

Has it been modified ? It seems a fair number of cars have had the cam changed for something slightly more “radical” in which case the idle may be a bit lumpy, tat shouldn’t cause it to flood or run rich however.

I'd love to say they all start, never grumble, never run on 7 for a little while, never cough and splutter on occasion, but that would be a complete lie.

Cars vary, my father 4.5 starts beautifully every time. Other's I've known always took 20secs to settle down regardless of stepper cleaning etc. Anything more than that I'd be starting to get concerned.
